Contribution Limits

On January 8, 2019 the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 3184-18 regarding Campaign Contribution limits for Candidates for Mayor and for City Council. Contribution limits for the office of Mayor are limited to $2,550. Details can be found here.

What is this money used for?

All contributions will be used to support campaign outreach such as advertising, printing costs, signs, and other activities. The intention is to continue expanding this outreach to use every dollar donated and through my investments. Although we expect to use every dollar, if there are leftover funds, they will be dispersed to local charities that are in line with the campaign's goals.

What do I need to provide and why?

The State of California has strict and well-defined regulations for donations. For each contribution, we must collect your name, address, occupation, and employer. For more details, click here.

Are there any limitations on who can donate?

Yes, and no. First, donations must be less than a total of $2,550. Beyond this, it is up to the candidates to decide whether a contribution is appropriate. I will not accept any money under the expectation of a return, financial, policy, or otherwise. Any individuals, businesses or organizations that are genuinely interested in supporting my campaign to advance the City of Redondo Beach are welcome to be discussed. I appreciate your offers, but please do not be offended if I turn down offers that could be construed as a conflict of interest. Please contact me at 424-265-3101 or donations@voisey4rbmayor.org if you have any questions!

What are the important dates for filing?

  • February 4th, Ballots will be delivered to the Post Office and will likely start arriving over Superbowl Weekend.
  • Contributions over $999.99 are required and reported immediately, when received.
  • Contributions of $999.99 or less will be reported in the current filing period. The current period ends on February 13th, 2021, and will be filed no later than February 18th, 2021. Contributions received February 14th, 2021, and later will be reported on my July 31st filing.
  • Example: If you were to donate $995 on February 15th, I would not be disclosing this until July 31st, when I submit my period filings.
  • NOTE: Contributions are cumulative for each individual. Any combinations that bring that value past $999.99 will trigger the immediate requirement to disclose it.
  • Donations of $99.99 or less do not require disclosure of any names. However, I am responsible for tracking that information and privately disclosing it if asked by the FPPC. It will not be made public.
  • March 2nd - Ballots must be postmarked or dropped off at official centers to count.
